We feature La Crosse Technology atomic alarm clocks and projection clocks for their time tested reliability. These clocks make terrific travel alarm clocks because of their compact size and time accuracy. They also make wonderful gifts!
How does atomic time work?
Located at Ft. Collins Colorado is the NIST US atomic clock - the most accurate timepiece in the world. From this point a continuous 60kHz radio signal is broadcast through out the United States where long wave reception is undisturbed. This area is reaches the United States and parts of lower Canada and parts of upper Mexico. The computer in the clock activates the receiver and processes the time and date signal from Fort Collins Colorado. Atomic alarm clocks are self-adjusting so any changes for daylight savings time or leap year are automatic and precise.
